Creamy Hummus Dip & Meal Accompaniment
Hummus can be used as a spread like butter, or as a dip. We love it with our main meal, with potato
Ingredients
- 1 Can or 1 cup of chickpeas
- 1/2 Lemon
- 1/2 Tablespoon tahini (sesame paste)
- Garlic clove optional
- Some of the chickpea water for consistancy – thick or thin
This hummus is super easy to make from scratch and most of the ingredients are cupboard storable. We always have a few tins of chickpeas in the cupboard to whip this up quickly. You can also add in extras like roasted red pepper (you can buy these in glass jars pre-made), sweated onions.
Hummus goes really well with potatoes, crackers, as a dip with veggies or as a “butter” spread.
How to Make
Place all the ingredients in the food processor. Add in a little chickpea liquid from the drained chickpeas and blend. Add in a little more chickpea liquid to make the consistency you like.
I sometimes add in a teaspoon of flax oil, for boosted omega 3.
